Yin-Yang yoga classes tend to start with a basic dynamic Vinyasa yoga sequence that help to generate heat and release energy in our system and get it flowing again. This ‘yang’ practice gives us a good cardio vascular and muscular work out, and is also the perfect preparation for the ‘Yin’ part of class.
In the more ‘passive’ Yin practice, we let go of the ‘doing’ and sink deeply into various floor poses. On a physical level, it allows us to work deeper into joints and fascia, releasing deep tension and toxins that get stored in the body over time. The more meditative nature of the Yin Yoga practice also allows us to observe and process mental and emotional tension we may have been holding onto during the day.
This style of yoga class is suitable for all levels.
