From Impulse to Insight – Understanding the interaction of Wood, Metal and Water elemental energies within you in this Yin yoga class on Zoom
In the upcoming Yin Yoga class we will experience and become aware of the interaction of the elemental energies within us, specifically focusing on the energetic properties of Wood (Liver & Gallbladder), Metal (Lungs & Large Intestine), and Water (Kidneys & Urinary Bladder).
We’ll begin by exploring the Wood energy, which is often characterised by a strong urge to act impulsively without much thought. We can pour energy into it without having the focus needed to manifest the action, leaving us feeling drained. In this class, we’ll examine the ways in which Wood energy can be harnessed and kept in check, enabling us to tap into its power without sacrificing our own well-being.
To accomplish this, we’ll be calling upon the balancing force of Metal energy. This element is associated with the Lungs and allows us to discern what’s truly important and what’s just noise. When we combine Metal and Wood energy, we can better refine our ideas and actions, giving us a greater sense of focus and purpose. Furthermore, by regulating the expansive Wood energy, we can help sustain our Water energy, which is the foundation of our overall vitality.
In this class, we’ll explore these three elements through a series of Yin yoga poses designed to target the legs, lateral side of the body, and torso. By opening up these areas, we can more effectively balance and regulate the flow of energy throughout our body. We’ll also focus on the chest, arms, and back body, which are closely connected to our respiratory system and the Metal element.
Finally, we’ll practice a pranayama (breathing) technique that will enhance our vision while simultaneously allowing us to connect more deeply with ourselves. By tuning in to our own inner wisdom, we can better discern which energy is dominant in the moment and make decisions that align with our true selves.
So come join me on Zoom for this enlightening and invigorating Yin Yoga class that will leave you feeling balanced, focused, and energised.
